DJ NEOTERIC

It's been said that it's not what you have, but what you can do with it. Vancouver based DJ Neoteric (Jeremiah Rusznyak) is no stranger to making something out of nothing. DJ'ing was a very natural progression for this taste-maker, as he started buying vinyl in the mid nineties and put out mixtapes locally.

In 2000, Neoteric launched Futility Records, a label dedicated to exposing good music to a larger audience. This saw the release of his first wide-spread mixtape, "Freak of the Industry", but more importantly the release of the Canadian classic Hiss 2 from Low Pressure's DJ Moves, which featured heavyweights Buck 65, Sixtoo, Moka Only and countless other Canadian rap heroes.

The next order of business was the "Indie-cent Exposure" series, which spanned 3 volumes, and was created with the goal of showcasing the many talented MC's Canada has to offer. It has definetely worked, as the CDs were available word wide, and did very well in Japan, The Netherlands, the UK and, of course, across Canada. Additionally, Neoteric released an acclaimed 3CD collection entitled "The Re-edutainment". His latest ‘Exhibit Eh’ hosted by Canadian Icon Maestro Fresh Wes, is out now and is laced with some of the best talent above the 49th parallel.

No strange to touring, Neoteric has toured Canada 3 times. First in 2003, for close to 2 months, on the ‘9-6 Reunion Tour’. Again, for 15 stops on the ‘6 Pack of Canadian Tour’ in 2005, and the 13 stop ‘Another Ephin Rap Tour’ in 2006. He’s also seen work playing shows in California and Vietnam, with plans for more extensive touring in the near future.

Beyond live rap shows, he's also known to tear the club up, and is in demand around and outside of the province for his multi-genre party rockin sets. Having played over 600 shows, in 3 countries he's no stranger to the stage. In 2005, him and fellow DJs Moves and Rhek founded the Party Killahs collective, a group dedicated to doing just that; mashing up the party! They were residents at the legendary Monday Night Live, Vancouver's only live hip hop night @ the Lamplighter. Currently they put on the wildly popular ‘Go Dumb’ Saturdays @ The Columbia, and Neoteric plays ‘Ladies Night’ Fridays @ Moejoes, Whistlers busiest club night!
